I have heard a friend mention today that the future of playing the
RUGBY LEAGUE CHALLENGE CUP FINAL at WEMBLEY is under threat .
So has anyone heard anything on this topic .

GB gone are the days when RL could fill Wembley even with the reduced capacity of 90000 With the problem with the trains etc Cardiff or some local football stadium with a capacity of 30-40000 will suffice

Cardiff was an eye opener, city centre location, and they know how to cater for rugby fans.

because we shud never have rebuilt wembley in the 1st place . we shud have a stadium in the middle of the country ,but in saying that i have always been vocal on england playing at stadiums & taking it to the people & not the rip-off merchants who run wembley . it doesnt do the germans any harm .

You can tell by the lower attendances that going to London is no longer attracting supporters from the non finalists like it used to do because of the financial costs and more difficulty on the motorways.

Hardly surprising when the clubs from outside the Super League are no longer getting the same chance of a big club coming to their grounds and themselves not going to their Wembley of visting a top Super League club.

The Challenge Cup competition has been devalued with the top eight clubs now only playing a couple of games to get to the final as a result of more importance now being attached to the end of season play off's and final of the Super League as a result of the Sky Sports contract.

I AGREE with al your comments OWD CODGER , I in my younger days used to be with a group of blokes we were called "THE SNOOKER CLUB CORNER " E very match day we would meet there before ,during ,and after thegame until closing ,and when wembley cam round no matter who the finalists were we got a coach up and went to every one for a greta P*ss up day out ,so i guess those days are a lot fewer nowadays ,plus with all you say about costs/travel etc sad in a way , I also agree with someone on here who says there is too much emphasis on "The Grand Final " In our day we had CCF/CHAMPIONSHIP/JOHN PLAYER /LACASHIRE CUP /PREMIERSHIP but today all we have is Wembley /OLD TRAFFORD ,Thats it no wonder is it that it's becoming a dying game ???
